Kimball for datamarts, LINSTEDT for enterprise datawarehouse!
Yes, of course you can add this to the testimonials.

If I know exactly what I want with DataVault modelling I will get back to you, m'kay?
The certification assignment was last month. No cut 'n'paste then, just plain elbow grease!

BTW, I installed Power Architect at work. I found some data quality issues with the profiler. These issues were acually fixed in production! How cool is that? Also I found that some attributes in a table were not properly annotated in the data dictionary. (Yes, we actually have a data dictionary at work!)

I downloaded the java code, and had a look at it. I recognized some of the patterns that were applied. But I got an error when I tried to compile it. (Don't have the error at hand, if you are interested I'll post i later). Not sure if it is easily adaptable to DataVault. Do you have a writeup of the architecture?

Later!
Hi Jonathan,

I don't know if you are aware of the standard fields of the datavault table, like FirstSeenDTS, RecordSource etc. I would like to be able to create a Hub, and have these standard fields already in place. And yes, I like the idea of being able to visually distinguish a Hub form a Link etc. As a matter of fact, I did the assignment for the Advanced DataVault Modeller certification that way.
Hi Jonathan,

Did you see this website: http://www.danlinstedt.com/AboutDV.php ?

In a nutshell: The Data Vault Model is made up of three basic entities:
* Hubs: A unique list of business keys (defined by same semantic grain)
* Links: Associations or transactions across those business keys
* Satellites: Provides context to the Hubs and Links across the model.

Hope this answers your questions..
Hi Jonathan,

My post was a bit of a teaser, but nevertheless quit serious. I am a certified datavault modeller, and am as such looking for tooling. I stumbled across PowerArchitect. I have used it at work, and have found some data quality issues in our source systems by using the profiler. Also I discovered that some descriptions in our data dictionary were not 100% correct!

I have looked into the code of Power Architect, and am not sure where to begin. What would in your opinion be needed to be able to model Hubs, Links and Satellites? (assuming you are familiar with those, if not let me know and I'll give you my two cents worth)
Wouldn't it be great if one could model Hubs, Links and Satellietes with PowerArchitect? (Don't know what these are? Shame on you!)
