I looked into this and there is a waiting icon on the tree object that is running. This wait icon could be much more noticable and it should appear on the actual editor panel as well but it does not at current. The reason why you probably did not notice the wait icon on the tree is it seems that there is a lot of work being done on the UI thread which causes Wabit to not respond. If that work was simplified or moved to a different thread that would make it more responsive. It would be much more user friendly to show it MUCH bigger or a splash screen, user simply knows easier what happens.
