"Client Editions" renamed "Community Editions"

SQL Power Open Source "Client Editions" renamed "Community Editions"

Community Edition now refers to the Open Source stand-alone application you can download and use for free, and Client Edition now refers specifically to Client components of Enterprise Editions.

Why the name change?

Prior to June 2010, our Open Source free downloads were known as Client Editions. But with the introduction of our Enterprise Server components, the term "Client Edition" is now reserved for Client components that interact with an Enterprise Server. Therefore as of June 2010, the Open Source free downloads are now more aptly named Community Editions.

Has the software changed?

No. The Software remains the same; only the name has changed. The Community Editions are still Open Source, free to download and retain all their previous features.

Which programs are affected?

The new Community Edition naming applies to all SQL Power Open Source offerings, including the SQL Power Architect Data Modeling Tool, SQL Power DQguru Data Cleansing Tool and SQL Power Wabit BI Reporting Tool.
